WORCESTERSHIRE Rapids all-rounder Mitchell Santner has been forced to end his spell with the club because of injury.

The New Zealander suffered a small fracture to a finger while fielding in the opening NatWest T20 Blast match of the season against Durham Jets at New Road last Friday.

But there has been a complication in the healing process which means he has required surgery today to resolve the problem.

The length of the recovery period means Santner has played his last game for the Rapids and is to return to New Zealand.

Santner had been scheduled to play in all of the Rapids matches in the North Group programme.

He was one of the Blacks Caps stars of the ICC World T20 and impressed with 2-29 on his Rapids T20 Blast debut against the Jets.

Santner also made one appearance in the Specsavers County Championship against Glamorgan at the Swalec Stadium.
