KIDDERMINSTER Carolians are daring to dream of playing at Twickenham after their stunning upset in the Midlands RFU Intermediate Cup.

KCs are three games away from playing at the home of rugby after defeating Banbury 11-5 to book a place in the regional semi-finals of the competition.

Director of rugby Phil Knowles hailed KCs collective spirit to defeat an Oxfordshire side who only the week before had scored 100 points against Droitwich.

He said: “I am not one for giving out praise but it was a very good team display.

“It would be unfair to pick out one player because to a man they were all excellent.

“We always have close games against Banbury but we played the conditions well.

“We were 11-0 up at half-time and I didn’t think it would be enough, but the lads played the best they had all season.

“There were a few bumps and bruised players getting off the coach but they were all happy.”

He added: “We reached the national semi-finals twice before 20 years ago and we’re certainly not going to be thinking about playing at Twicken-ham, there is a long way to go.”

Kidderminster are set to rest some of the regulars for Saturday’s Midlands Division Two West (North) clash at home to bottom side Harborne (2.15pm ko). Andy McLellan and Layton Wilkinson will be on the bench while Colts centre Sam Faulk-ner is set for a first team debut.
