KIDDERMINSTER Carolians face a tough test this weekend when they go to in-form Banbury in the RFU Intermediate Cup.

The Marlpool Lane side face a team flying high in the Midlands Division Two West (South) and are full of confidence.

KCs’ opponents boast a formidable record, winning 12 of the last 13 games.

Last weekend they demolished Kidderminster’s Worcestershire neighbours 105-8.

But Carolians go into the game on the back of a 41-12 win at Handsworth in the Midlands Division Two West (North).

Director of rugby Phil Knowles said: “It’s going to be a very hard game because Banbury are flying at the moment.

“But we’ll go there and we’ll play well, the games against Banbury tend to be very close.

“They are the favourites and I’ll be very pleased if we pull off a win.”

KCs were in potent form in Birmingham at Handsworth, with a four-try burst in 14 minutes killing the home side off.

George Morgan bagged a hat-trick as KCs bounced back from a two-game losing run.

Knowles said: “It was good to get back to winning ways and in some style as well.”

Rob Delahay is set to miss Saturday’s game because of injury, while James Lloyd-Jones has returned to training but is not expected to be ready to play.

Meanwhile, the Colts lost 20-12 to Syston in the National Cup.
