BEWDLEY Town will be bidding to put the record straight this weekend when they travel to Bromyard Town - the scene of their recent 5-0 League Cup hammering, writes Nick Pullen.

This time, there are precious West Midlands League points at stake with both sides desperate to pull clear of the bottom three.

Bewdley boss Phil Mullen admitted his players should need no motivation for the match and said: "Like every game, I shall be wanting to win it. Bromyard looked a decent outfit when we played them and I was impressed with their performance - but not with ours.

"Since that game, we've had a talk and back-to-back wins. It should be an interesting game."

Bewdley have been forced to reverse the fixture owing to the state of their Ribbesford Meadow pitch.

Despite doing extensive drainage work during the summer, the pitch remains prone to flooding and resulted with Saturday's game against Stone Old Alleynians being called off.

Mullen maintained: "We can't get on the pitch at the moment to use the roller, because it's so heavy. We need a dry spell of weather.

"We solved the problem of water coming off the road with extra drainage, but the rest of the pitch is still suffering because we can't get the water away and it's something we have to look at."

Bewdley moved into the semi-finals of the Worcester Infirmary Cup this week with a 2-1 win at Stourport Swifts thanks to goals from Tom Connelly and Jon Seekings.

Current holders Bewdley now meet Littletons in a two-legged semi-final.

However Bewdley picked up injuries to Tom Connelly and Callum Martin during the victory over Swifts while Aaron Stubbins dislocated his elbow while playing Sunday football.

Mullen's assistant Paul 'Ocha' Davies is also on the road to recovery following a hip operation.

Mullen quipped: "Knowing 'Ocha', I'm expecting him to be available for selection next week!
