Wyre Forest Phoenix 8 v 1 Wyre Forest Phoenix Raiders

Wyre Forest Phoenix Under 10's were at home to their younger club mates Wyre Forest Raiders. The home team worked well together from the outset and Jasmine Whitmore was on top form scoring all 8 goals in a 8-1 victory, thus keeping the team at the top of the table in what has been an excellent season so far. Isabelle Gibbons scored for the Raiders.

Solihull Moors Vixens 2 v 5 Wyre Forest Phoenix

The Under 14 took a nice sunny trip to Solihull today, with the teams evenly matched and them just above us in the league. The game started very well with both teams having chances but Solihull were putting them wide and the Solihull keeper pulling off some fine saves. It was on 11 mins when a long ball over the top from Grace Smith was chanced down by Georgia Akers to put us a head to reach half time 0-1.

Solihull kicked off the second half but we pinched the ball and Connor Reeves played a lovely ball into Georgia for her second of the game. Solihull grabed 1 back on 8 mins, but we took a 2 goal lead again on 11 mins when Carys Jones got a fab goal, after a ball into her from Lauren Hipwell was taken around 4 players to slot past the keeper. On 15 mins Solihull pulled back again but then Connor hit the ball on the volley to lob the keeper on 20 mins. Caelen Gower sealed the game on 30 mins with a run down the left and cutting in on her right to tuck it pasted the Solihull keeper. Final score was 2-5. Goals : Georgia Akers (2), Connor Reeves (2), Caelen Gower (1). Player of the game was picked by the ref and was Lleah Lloyd Perks.

Hereford and Worcester Girls and Women's County League

AFC Worcester 1 (1) v Wyre Forest Phoenix 1 (1)

Today saw the County team away today and with 2 good performances the previous weeks we went into this game hoping we could win, which we definitely should have done . Similar to last week we found a keeper in fine form making at good saves and combined with some poor finishing we really should have scored more than the one we did. Both goals came in the first half, theirs was a flukey goal when the wind seemed to affect the balls flight and veered past keeper CharlieghLowe. Ours came from a great pass and move between Sadie Brown and Mel Knott, with Mel shooting over the keeper from just outside the box. The halftime score was 1-1 despite Sadie finding the net, only to be ruled offside. The Second half was all us, creating numerous chances but not taking them. This came back to bite us in the bum when the AFC midfielder broke clear. Fortunately the shot hit the bar to keep the final score at 1-1. Goal : Mel Knott. Girl of the game went to Stephanie Lambert. Our next game is in 2 weeks at home to top of the league Evesham.

West Midlands Regional Women's League Cup Divn 1

Wyre Forest Phoenix 9 (5) v Studley Ladies 3 (3)

WFP Ladies entertained Studley for the first time this season. The visitors started really well forcing a fine save from keeper Tracy Evans and 5 minutes later having a goal disallowed as it was ruled offside. They opened the scoring a few minutes later when they beat the offside trap and slotting it past the keeper. A few minutes later Studley were awarded a free kick from about 25yds, which fell to their striker in the 6yd box for a simple tap in. From the re-start, WFP got a goal back when Kirsty Roberts got on the end of a long ball and neatly finished. This lifted the team spirits and opened up the ‘goalgates’. Chelsea Mudge levelled the game a few minutes later latching onto a pass from Kirsty Roberts. Studley took the lead again from another free kick, this time smashing it in to the top of the net beating the outstretched hands of keeper Tracy. WFP levelled the game for the second time when ‘Player of the match’ Vicky Hide rose like a salmon in the 6yd box to header a Kirsty Roberts corner. WFP then took the lead with Kirsty Roberts’s second goal of the game as she linked up with Kirsty Jones on the edge of the 18yd box to lob the keeper. Just before the break WFP extended their lead when Chelsea Mudge got her second of the game neatly flicking a header into the top right from a Kirsty Jones corner.

The second half was really all WFP with Studley really struggling to get any control. Vicky Hyde got her second of the game as she picked up the ball from the middle of the park and ran past the defence and slotting it through the keeper’s legs. Shortly after Kirsty Jones finally got a goal but the best celebration came when midfielder and captain Kat Meredith scored a lovely goal from just outside the 18yd box, perfectly placed into the top right corner, with her celebration going all the way back to keeper Tracy. I think she was a little happy to have scored her first goal of the season. The final goal came 5 minutes from the end when Molly Maguire latched onto a Kirsty Jones corner at the back post. Final Score 9-3. Goals : Chelsea Mudge (2), Kat Meredith (1), Kirsty Jones (1), Kirsty Roberts (2), Molly Maguire (1), Vicky Hyde (2).

An excellent turnaround by the team. Well played ladies
