A spring weekend saw mixed results throughout the club, with some results causing disappointment when perhaps teams deserved more.

Kinver  1 v 1 Wyre Forest Phoenix

The Under 12's travelled to second in the league Kinver ,after 9 weeks without a game due to the Weather and Cup fixtures. Having never beaten them Phoenix started the brighter with Natacha Trabulo having a number of chances early on but she could just not get past the Kinver keeper. The Phoenix defence stood strong against a very good Kinver attack who have been scoring for fun all season. Jazmin Cartwright saw a thunderous shot from a corner narrowly miss the target and Phoenix beat the offside trap on a number of occasions but could not take their chances. 0-0 Half time. An injury to Izzy Smith's hand saw a reshuffle at the beginning of the second half but still we were the better side, working as a team and showing a wonderful desire to attack the Kinver goal. They got their rewards when a through ball saw Natacha Trabulo beat the offside trap and slot coolly past the oncoming  keeper. Kinver seemed to wake up and attacked the Phoenix defence for the following few minutes resulting in the end with Phoenix conceding a cruel goal, when a corner came in from the left hand side and somehow deflected in to the Phoenix net. 1-1. Phoenix then pushed on to try and get the winner but had to withstand a late onslaught from Kinver to grab a crucial and well deserved point, which could and should have easily been all 3. Final score 1-1. Goal : Natasha Trabulo.  An outstanding performance by the girls, hopefully we can take this and build on it for the last 7 weeks of the season.

Nunnery Wood Coyotes 8 v 0 Wyre Forest Phoenix

The Under 13 were away to Leaders Nunnery Wood Coyotes, so this was always going to be a tough match.  despite hoping for something special after last week's strong performance. The Flyers were strong holding off the Coyotes well, until  a set piece corner on 11 mins to go 1 up.  2 minutes later a second, a minute later saw Coyotes get a penalty with a harsh decision for an alleged hand ball in the box, to make it 3. The Flyers kept their heads and battled hard, but some tough play from the Coyotes saw Megan Morris taken off after 20 minutes.  After 25 minutes the Coyotes took advantage of the weakened defence to score again, and then again 3 minutes later (0-5).  Fleur Connolly nearly pulled one back after 30 minutes, but another corner for the Coyotes found the net to see half time at (6-0).
The Flyers were back with a full defence and determination in the second half.  It took 5 minutes for Fleur to crack off a great shot that went wide. The Flyers kept on battling with many hard tackles and but despite near misses the Coyotes scored twice more to finish (8-0).  A great performance from the Flyers, but an unsporting performance by the Coyotes, which saw a number of injuries to the Flyers and some unaccountable instances of players dissent and marred the game.

Redditch Borough 2 v 2 Wyre Forest Phoenix

Wyre Forest Phoenix 4 v 2 Redditch Borough

Wyre Forest Phoenix 1 (0) v Droitwich Spa Ladies 4 (3)

Today was a wonderful day for a game of football against Droitwich. Historically these have tended to be closely fought affairs although Phoenix could never get the better of them. Phoenix showed intent from the start challenging for every ball and creating great chances which their goalkeeper saved. Midway through the first half Phoenix were awarded a penalty, taken by Mollie Plant , but the keeper made a great save tipping it onto the bar. Within 5 mins of the penalty we were awarded a fee kick just outside the box which was taken by Stef Lambert, arrowing into the top right hand corner, but yet again the keeper made another  fine save. Our opponents picked up the ball to move straight down the other end and score a good goal with a well taken shot from outside the box over the keeper to take the lead. We then took our foot off the peddle for a bit and conceded another 2 goals before the break halftime score 0-3.
A good productive chat saw us come out all guns a blazing, controlling the second half penning our opponents back, but yet again the keeper was in fine form. 5 mins in we won a free kick just outside the box. Captain Chase Pheysey-Hoban
took a great free kick which nestled into the net. We kicked off and the goal gave the team belief that we could do this and we tried our hardest to get another goal which would have made the last 15 mins interesting but alas we conceded another. We continued to battle, with a penalty shout turned down by the ref. Despite our efforts we could not  get the goal(s) goal our overall play deserved to finish 1-4. Goal : Chase Pheysey-Hoban
We played like a team and produced probably some of our best football of the season. Charleigh Lowe had a great game in goal, with both keepers denying many chances and a special mention for new girl Lucy Watters in her debut game for the club , but the whole team played great today. Our opponents chose Melissa Knott as girl of the game. Next week away to AFC Worcester.

West Midlands Regional Women's League

Wyre Forest Phoenix 1 (1) v Marston Green  5 (2)

WFP Ladies team this week entertained title contenders Marston Green, who are looking for promotion and who were on form. Two early goals conceded in 15 minutes put us on the back foot, both scored from Free Kick set pieces. We eventually brushed ourselves down and started to challenge more and on 30 mins got a well deserved goal from Heidi Mitchell after a long ball throw from Bex Meredith.
The second half was not our best as we battled with the sun in our eyes and pushed hard to get back on equal terms. Kirsty Jones, who is usually on form, saw 2 good chances squandered, but never gave up. Marstons experienced proved too much though as they played the long ball and got 3 goals in 10 minutes which was a cruel blow as WFP ladies were battling hard and deserved more than 1 goal in the game.
Let's hope the ladies put this behind them and look to get back to winning ways on Sunday as they entertain Studley Ladies.
