BEWDLEY Festival’s 23rd event was a multiple record breaker.

Organisers have reported the highest number of sellout shows, along with a record number of tickets sold for the evening entertainment.

Tickets went on sale in July, when more were sold during the first few weeks, than in previous years.

This year saw the greatest attendance to daytime events, as well as the most sponsors.

The Eat Bewdley raffle had a record number of 62 prizes donated by local businesses and raised the most money for festival funds.

A festival spokeswoman, Carole Swingler, said: “A record number of people have already written or spoken to organisers, thanking them for a great festival. That feedback really means a great deal to us.”

She added: “Our aim is to provide high quality entertainment to appeal to a wide variety of tastes and judging by audience reactions, we have certainly achieved it this year. Everyone has personal favourites but because of the variety it is impossible to choose a best. We are happy that every event was excellent in its own way.”

Between Friday, October 8 and Sunday, October 17, the festival presented nine evening events, 11 daytime events, three special church services, three workshops, two family farm visits, two art exhibitions and a day of free entertainment in the centre of town.

Mrs Swingler said she thanks the organising committee and members of the Festival Society, especially those who have volunteered for various front of house duties. She also thanked sponsors, advertisers and donors of prizes and all who bought tickets and entered into the festival spirit.

Planning for next year’s 24th event will begin soon and organisers would like to receive suggestions for inclusion in the programme. Booking cannot be guaranteed but all ideas sent to admin@bewdleyfestival.org.uk will be investigated.
