A regional karate club took home an impressive medal haul last weekend at the world championships.

Young Gloves Karate, which is based in Kidderminster, Stourport and Stourbridge, won 16 medals at the World Karate Union Championships on Sunday, October 1.

The team competed against clubs from across the UK with every member coming away with a medal for the club which included three gold, five silver and eight bronze.

Sensei and 5th dan Justin Thomas said: “This is a truly remarkable achievement from such a young group of martial artists.

“I’ve been teaching karate for over 20 years and attended many competitions nationally and internationally, but I can honestly say this latest group is easily the most talented I’ve ever taught.”
