I HAVE just been going over the proposed regeneration plans for Stourport and whilst they look presentable on the surface, I think they need to be defined more.

For instance the Civic Centre should stay as it is which is the majority view of the town.

The development of the town centre, whilst being needed, is a minor consideration to the urgent need for the relief road, which has been a bone of contention for both residents and motorists for quite some time.

Apart from the new Tesco site, the town both as a residential area as well as a holiday destination, is in greater need of the relief road from the point of view of those who travel through the town to get either to work or home from outlying areas.

The town is a traffic jam for most of the day because everything has to go the same way.

On top of that, there are also those who come to the town in summer to spend time by the river, who at the moment have to stand in a traffic jam for quite some time, leaving them less time to spend in the town and affecting trade.

I live in hope that someone will listen and take note before they spend thousands on a regeneration which will fail unless this problem is addressed.
