THREE art exhibitions be on display during Bewdley Festival.

Paintings by mental health group, Art in Minds, will be shown at Bewdley Library from Friday, October 7 to Friday, October 28.

The organisation hopes to put mental health art in the public eye. It aims to provide a safe, supportive and professional way for those with experience of mental distress to show and possibly sell their work with pride.

Meanwhile, over at the Wyre Forest Gallery at Bewdley Museum an exhibition on local writer Francis Brett Young’s Worcestershire, will be on display from Wednesday, October 5 until Sunday, November 20.

There is a vast list of local places mentioned in Young’s work, such as Far Forest, Mamble,Chaddesley Corbett, Pensax, Ribbesford, Romsley and St Kenelm's Church.

The paintings on show will have been selected from an open competition. Artists have been invited to illustrate the many aspects of Worcestershire found in the novels and poems of the celebrated writer.

Continuing with the theme, Saxon Murder Mystery- the story of St Kenelm, will be on show in the Severn Gallery at Bewdley Museum from Wednesday, September 28 to Sunday,November 13. The exhibition highlights the work of H.R. Wilson who was born near the site of St Kenelm's martyrdom. There will also be a new portrait of Francis Brett Young by John Hadley ATD, shown for the first time in Bewdley.

On Monday, October 10 at 2.30pm in Bewdley Baptist Church, Dr Michael Hall, chairman of the Francis Brett Young Society, will give an illustrated talk complementing the two exhibitions in the museum.
