IS the council right to maintain the focus on the town centre for large retail development?

During the course of the next three weeks a series of special Shuttle features will explore specific aspects of the documents including housing, business, and transport.

This will start next week with the focus on housing.

Consultation documents were approved by the district council on May 18 and the process will involve a series of roadshows being held across the three towns as follows: n Saturday, May 28 – Kidderminster Market – 10am-4pm.

n Saturday, June 4 – Bewdley Museum – 10.30am-4pm.

n Thursday, June 9 – Rowland Hill Centre, Kidderminster – 11am-5pm.

n Saturday, June 11 – Former Lloyds Garage, Stourport – 11am-5pm.

Councillor Phillips said: “Now is the stage when things start to get more interesting to a wider audience, when decisions are made involving specific parcels of land.

“Now is the time to get involved and influence the decisions that could affect development near you.

“I would invite everyone with an interest in the future of the district to get involved in this consultation process.”

The consultation closes on Friday, July 8. The Churchfields Masterplan is expected to be adopted in September, but there will be further formal stages for the Site Allocations and Kidderminster Central Area Action Plan.

These two documents are not expected to be adopted until early 2013.
