BEWDLEY Festival will be officially opened tomorrow evening, kicking off with a sold-out concert.
The 23rd annual event will be opened by Conservative MP, Mark Garnier, at the town’s Ramada Hotel, at 8pm.
This will be the followed by the festival’s first concert of the year, by legendary vocalist and keyboard player, Georgie Fame, who will be accompanied by his sons, James and Tristan.
The hotel will be the venue for a series of evening shows, all at 8pm.
On Saturday, alternative comedian Arthur Smith will perform sold-out show, At Large.
On Sunday, there will be a one-man performance of Dylan Thomas's, Under Milk Wood, by Guy Masterson, who will bring all 69 characters to life. The London Times has called it one of the most inventive, remarkable performances of the decade.
On Monday, there will be a tribute to the two American legends, Bob Newhart and Tom Lehrer. Lehrer's songs, Poisoning Pigeons in the Park and The Masochism Tango will be performed by Peter Gill. Andrew Meller will present Newhart's monologues Introducing Tobacco to Civilisation and The Driving Instructor.
Memoirs will be given from DJ Johnnie Walker on Tuesday, and comedian Alexei Sayle on Wednesday.
On Thursday, Singer Elkie Brooks will appear for a sold-out concert as part of her 50th anniversary tour where she will perform some of her classic hits along with blues and jazz tracks.
