A COMEDIAN will perform extracts from his recently published memoir at the Bewdley Festival.
Alexei Sayle will appear at the town’s Ramada Hotel on Wednesday, October 13 to perform Stalin Ate My Homework.
His memoir details his childhood as the son of ardent Communists and describes how his summer holidays were more likely to be spent visiting tractor factories in Latvia than on the beach in Blackpool.
He tells of how his friends watched Disney cartoons while he was taken to the cinema to see films such as Ivan the Terrible.
The comic started off as a stand-up comedian and became notorious for his ruthless compering of the Comedy Store. Although he studied painting in his youth, his interest is now mainly in writing. He will answer questions from the audience after sharing his anecdotes.
