There are just three weeks to go to the launch of Kidderminster Arts Festival (KAF) 2010 and the programme is huge. There is plenty to see and do in the festival from August 14 to 28, and it is not too late to get involved. Loz Samuels, Wyre Forest District Council’s arts and play development officer said: “If you’re a performer of any kind, you are welcome to take part in the festival. We programme buskers on the town’s very busy market days so this is great way to reach a large audience.

“KAF audiences are usually very supportive and really appreciate buskers in the town during the event, but if you’d like to join in please don’t leave it to the last minute as we only have limited space.”

There are two pitches which have been donated by LSD Promotions, with access to electricity and over head cover on Thursdays and Saturdays.

To take part and for more information, contact arts@wyreforestdc.gov.uk or call the office on 01562 732928 and ask for arts development.

There is another great opportunity for performers to have a spot on a stage at a new event.

The ReWyre Initiative is presenting the first Kidderminster Canal Festival, working in partnership with the KAF10. The canal festival will take place on August 19-21.

It is centred on the canal side at Weavers Wharf and will feature the ‘Dreamcatcher’ passenger barge and the ‘Scorpio’ working heritage boat, giving visitors the chance to explore the canal’s industrial heritage.

There will also be a live entertainment stage near the canal with acts on throughout the three days and a continental market selling goods from around Europe. If you would like to perform on the stage, please contact Jackie Roberts, the town centre manager, on 01562 752693 or email jackie.roberts@wyreforestdc.gov.uk for more details.
