There are two Planning Applications coming to WFDC concerning development on Puxton Marsh. The first is the re-attempt to build housing on land near Brooklands Drive. The application is being made by Wyre Forest Community Housing (housing once owned by WFDC). A similar application was made last year when the land was owned by Mucklow’s and it was refused permission – an excellent decision.

The second application is from Morbain to build office accommodation, car parking etc, on marsh land next to all the old Jellyman’s carpet factory (where I worked as a weaver). I am objecting to both of these hostile applications. Development Control Committee will deal with the applications in due course and I hope to speak to Committee, having been approached by residents in the near area.

When is a Nature Reserve, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Marsh subject to flooding by the River Stour which runs through it, not an area which should be protected for future generations? When Housing and Building Companies decide otherwise, that’s when!
