FRIENDS of a “popular” Kidderminster man gave nearly £200 to the Millbrook Suite in his memory.
When John Byrne died of cancer in November last year, drinkers at the Musketeer in the Rifle Range donated £63 to the unit.
Parishioners at St Ambrose RC Church in Birmingham Road also dug deep to generate £127.
His wife, Sharon, said: “John was a very popular man and he had lots of friends. More than 300 people went to his funeral.”
Although the Millbrook Appeal’s £150,000 target has been reached, any donations will go towards the running of the unit and any extra equipment that is needed.
