Tuesday 2nd June was the day when Burlish Park Primary had a special event! Nick and Karen came from a Samba group called Glamba to teach us some exciting rhythms such as ‘I would like a cup of a tea.’ The day started off with a factual introduction about what kind of instruments we would be performing on. After that we got to wander about trying out the instruments to see what instrument would suit us. Once we had familiarised ourselves with the instruments we gathered and selected our chosen instruments to work our magic on. The percussion instruments we played on were: the bells, dj’embes and the suba. Next we got our practised rhythms onto the drums- or bells. On the bells we had some extremely talented people to keep the strong beat. The rhythm that the bells were playing was’ I would like a cup of tea.’ The hardest rhythm was played on the dj’embes. The rhythm was ‘caterpillar, tadpole, butterfly, frog.’ The dj’embes were the smaller drum of the dj’embes and the subas. The suba were unquestionably the loudest out of all the percussion instruments that year 6 played! Their rhythm was ‘sausage, egg and chips.’ In the end year 6 created such wonderful music that Simon Cowell would say ‘You're through to the FINAL!!!’
