ONE of the top AS level art students in the country is displaying her work as part of Bewdley Festival.
Kate Crowther-Green, 17, who attends Bewdley School and Sixth Form Centre, is showcasing her work at HSBC bank, in Load Street, from today.
She achieved 100 per cent in her art exam and cousework in this Summer’s exams, putting her in the top ten out of 6,535 entries.
She is part of a group of pupils chosen to display their art pieces at shops and banks across Bewdley.
Miss Crowther-Green said: “It’s really exciting getting this exhibition and I’m really pleased.
“It’s a bit embarassing at first when strangers are looking at your work but I’ve got used to it now.”
Her artwork, which has a “light and movement” theme, was produced by taking photos with a digital camera at a slow shutter speed.
She then used a computer to edit the photos and painted them onto a canvas.
Miss Crowther-Green added: “All my friends and family are really happy with how well I’ve done. I’ve enjoyed art since I was in first school.”
Art teacher Becky Newbold said: “The school is extremely proud of Kate’s creative achievements and is delighted to be able to share this with the community.”
The exhibition runs until next Friday.
