Residents have shared their shock and sadness after a woman was found dead in Bewdley.

The woman, who was in her 20s, was found in a home on Wassell Drive yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, April 23).

Neighbours have now spoken to The Shuttle to express their sympathy to her family after police launched a murder investigation.

One resident Mick Davies said: “I only live down the road, but we didn’t hear or see anything.

“It’s a big shock. The family are going to be absolutely devastated. We know what it’s like to lose a young person so our thoughts go out to the woman’s family and friends.”

Another resident Dawn Cooke said: “I didn’t hear anything but it’s a terrible thing that’s happened.

“It’s quite frightening that it was so close to my home. I’ve lived here since 1998 and nothing like this has ever happened before.

“I’m just so sorry to the family for their loss.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Mercia Police said they were called to the address shortly after 5pm on Tuesday (April 23).

Two women and a man have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.

There is still an increased police presence in the area whilst the investigation gets underway.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “The woman’s family have been informed and will be supported by a specially trained Family Liaison Officer.

"Local residents can expect an increased police presence in the area for their reassurance and whilst the early stages of the investigation are carried out.”

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 17.04pm to an incident at a private address on Wassell Drive.

"One ambulance attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a woman.

"Unfortunately, it was immediately clear that nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed deceased at the scene.”
