AN ELDERLY woman has been taken to hospital after a car crash in Kidderminster.

The two-car crash on Sutton Park Road at 10.30am this morning (Tuesday April 9) saw one car hit a house.

It is believed a woman in her 80s, the driver of one of the cars, had suffered a medical episode at the wheel.

She had to be cut free from her car by firefighters and has been taken to the Worcester Royal Hospital.

Police, medics and firefighters attended the incident, which caused minor damage to a house.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 10.26am to a road traffic collision at the junction of Connaught Avenue and Sutton Park Road, in Kidderminster.

"Two ambulances attended the scene.

"Upon arrival we found an elderly woman who was the driver of the car who is believed to have suffered a medical incident at the wheel.

"She was assessed by ambulance staff at the scene and conveyed to Worcester Royal Hospital for further assessment.

"No further patients required assessment.”

A spokesman for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "The incident involved two vehicles, one of which had also been in collision with a two-storey house.

"A female casualty in her 80s was medically trapped and extricated from her vehicle by fire service personnel before being handed over to the care of the ambulance service who attended along with police."

Two crews from Wyre Forest Fire Station attended.

The crash closed the busy road for hours, with it reopening around 1.20pm.
