MEMBERS at a record-breaking town club have celebrated its 20th birthday.

The Kidderminster Ukulele Club was started by Ray Shakeshaft in 2004 in Bewdley.

It soon became clear people wanted to play but were working so it changed to an evening club and moved to St George’s Social Club, Radford Avenue, hence the name change.

It is said to be the longest-running wooden ukulele club in Great Britain.

For its 20th anniversary the club contacted old members to join for a party and there was a toast to founder Ray who died in 2015.

Members not only play every Thursday from 7.30pm until 9.30pm but for care homes and social occasions too.

The friendly, thriving club welcomes anyone interested in playing to come along for an evening.
