A former University of Worcester student and Kidderminster native is set to bring his heartwarming queer comedy 'Wet Feet' to stages this upcoming Pride month.

Michael Neri, in his first writing effort, will premiere his show 'Wet Feet' in London and Birmingham this June.

Neri runs Talking Props Theatre Arts, and has both written and will star in the new production.

The narrative unfolds in a gay sauna, focusing on two characters; Nathan, played by the debuting Matthew Edgar, who is confidently out, and Franko, played by Neri, battling the oppressive remnants of Section 28.

The play will tell the story of a journey of liberation and a connection formed in the most unexpected setting.

Neri will attempt to demonstrate the broad spectrum of human love and identity, stirring conversations that foster change and innovative thought.

He said: "I am thrilled to be bringing a new LGBTQ+ play to London & Birmingham during Pride month.

"Both are vibrant and diverse city’s and so serve as the perfect stage to celebrate love in all its forms.

"I hope Wet Feet demonstrates the beautiful spectrum of human love and identity and fosters conversations that inspire change and new thinking.”

Dominic Rouse will take the director helm, while Off West End 2023 costume award winner Reuben Speed will design the production.

Audiences can enjoy pre-London previews at the Old Joint Stock Theatre in Birmingham on Thursday 13 and Friday, June 14 at 8pm.

Tickets are priced at £15 and can be purchased on the venue's website.

The play will then move to London's Union Theatre, playing from Tuesday 18 to Saturday, June 29.

Press night falls on Thursday, June 20 at 8pm, with tickets starting from £20, available on the Union Theatre website or TodayTix.
