OFFICERS swooped to pull over trucks, vans and other vehicles as part of a road safety crackdown.

West Mercia Police officers were based at the Kidderminster DVSA test site, off Worcester Road, during Operation Forefront, a day of action where multiple initiatives, including warrants and speed checks, were carried out across the county.

As part of the traffic safety operation, Kidderminster police worked alongside partners including HMRC, Wyre Forest District Council and the DVSA.

A range of commercial and non-commercial vehicles were stopped, including lorries, vans and even a 'monster truck.'

West Mercia Police have now published the results of the operation.

The force recorded a total of three mobile phone offences, 12 number plate offences, five prohibition notices, one tyre pressure issue, four window tint issues, and four insecure loads.

They also recorded two vehicles with no MOT, one with no tax with the vehicle being seized,  one overweight vehicle, and one with no waste carrier licence.

West Mercia PCC John Campion attended the operation. He said it was about ensuring that the vehicles using the road are lawful and safe.

One unusual vehicle that was stopped was a restored 1973 Chevrolet Blazer with spikes on its wheels.

Mechanic Aden Redif, who owns the huge customised truck, said it's not the first time he's been pulled over whilst driving it, and that he "didn't mind."

Other than the vehicle requiring a change of number plate due to its black background, police said there were no issues with the vehicle.

Mr Redif, aged 39, said: "I've fully restored it. It was a totally different truck. I've got another one of those".
