A THREE-YEAR-OLD child has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after an horrific crash in Stourport-on-Severn this morning (Sunday February 4).

A 10-month-old baby and a man in his 40s were also taken to hospital with head injuries after the two-car smash, involving a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a black BMW, which happened at around 6.45am at the junction of the A451 Dunley Road and the B4196.

Police closed the road and a man in his 30s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving.

West Mercia Police advised motorists to seek alternative routes while emergency services worked at the scene but the road has since re-opened and the force has now issued an appeal for witnesses.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We are appealing for witnesses to a serious road traffic collision in Stourport on Severn, Worcestershire, this morning (Sunday February 4) involving two vehicles.

“The RTC happened at the junction of the A451 Dunley Road and the B4196 at around 6.45am, involving a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a black BMW.

“A three-year-old child travelling in the Corsa was taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

“A 10-month-old baby and the driver of the car, a man in his 40s, were also taken to hospital after sustaining head injuries.

“A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving."

Witnesses are urged to call police on 101 and quote log 98i of today (Sunday February 4).
