THE sporting weekend has been heavily affected by the freeing conditions across the UK.

Overnight and into Saturday, temperatures dropped as low as -4 in some places across Worcestershire and initial readings suggest highs of only 2 degrees by lunchtime on Saturday.

Worcester City's FA Vase third-round clash with Boston Town was postponed late on Friday afternoon due to the 155-mile trip the visitors were having to make from Lincolnshire. A pitch inspection was taken and the decision was made to cancel the game early, with conditions only getting worse.

Redditch United's home game with Royston Town and Kidderminster Harriers' National League clash with Ebbsfleet United were the only games to survive in the county.

Away from home, Southern League games involving Malvern Town, Alvechurch and Bromsgrove Sporting have all been postponed.

In the Hellenic League Premier, Pershore Town's trip to Roman Glass St George DOES go ahead, as does the Midland Football League Division One clash between Droitwich Spa and Smethwick.

The weather has put an end to most of the rugby in the area as well. These are the games that have been cancelled so far.
