Homeless young people from across Worcestershire were able to create lasting memories thanks to a heart-warming trip.

In a special initiative, the youth homelessness charity, St Basils, treated over 30 youngsters from housing projects in Kidderminster, Bromsgrove and Redditch to a fun day out at Alton Towers on Sunday, November 12.

The day started with a 5k fun run around the beautiful park grounds to symbolise the start of a new journey before getting the chance to enjoy the rides.

One young person said: “Running in Alton Towers was amazing. The weather was awful but knowing we were all getting to go on the rides afterwards kept us all going.

“I’ve never been to a theme park before and the whole day felt like a dream. St Basils made us feel special like we belong. It’s a day I’ll cherish.”

The outing was not only a break from routine, but the charity wanted to highlight the importance of community support in bringing joy and normalcy to the lives of vulnerable young people.
