COURSES and opportunities for sixth formers are being showcased at Kidderminster’s Baxter College – current title holder of Worcestershire Secondary School of the Year.
The school’s sixth form - known as BC6 – is opening its doors today (November 8) from 5.30pm until 7.30pm to prospective students considering where to study after their GCSEs next September.
Katie Beech, head of school, said: “We are proud to offer a broad and balanced key stage 5 curriculum that provides all students with a high-quality educational experience, providing a foundation for the next stage of their education and a successful future.
“In an increasingly competitive global employment market, it is important that students develop an understanding of how to learn; not just the retention of knowledge.
“We have genuine success in students exceeding their expectations in the destinations they go on to, in aspirational university courses and higher-level apprenticeships. We are proud to say that all our sixth form students from last year who applied for university were accepted into their first choice.”
There will be two sessions during the open evening at 5.30pm and 6.30pm, both starting with a presentation about BC6, but visitors unable to attend either presentation are still welcome to look around the curriculum fair, arriving up to 7pm.
There will also be a cake sale and a raffle (cash only) to raise funds for a sixth form, plus year 11, expedition to Madagascar.
The event is ticketed and places can be booked via Eventbrite. For more information visit https://linktr.ee/baxtercollege
