A PLANNING application for a new 80-bed care home in Kidderminster has been submitted.

The development, which has been proposed by the Muller Property Group, will replace the industrial brownfields site located at The Forge on Clensmore Street.

The proposals would see 80 ensuite bedrooms created across three floors of accommodation with state-of-the-art amenities including communal spaces, dining facilities, gardens and leisure areas.

The plans also include an additional 27 car parking spaces, 16 cycle bays and one ambulance space.

A spokesperson for the Muller Property Group said: “We are excited to announce the submission of a comprehensive outline planning application for an 80-bed care home in Kidderminster.

“This proposed facility will cater to the growing need for quality senior care services in the area, enhancing the quality of life for elderly residents.”

The site is currently used as a commercial yard to store machinery with a semi-derelict public park to the south and a canal to the west offering residents waterside views.

Crossley Retail Park is also a short walk away from the proposed development, which will be located opposite a new housing estate that is currently under construction.

The aim is to create a care home with a community feel for residents that will cater for those with both general needs and dementia.

The proposed development will also create around 80 full-time jobs in the area with each wing of the property having a central nurse station.

The Muller Property Group added: “We are excited about the potential of this project to positively impact the Kidderminster community.

“The company looks forward to working closely with the local authority, stakeholders and community members during the planning and development process.”
