A GIANT poppy has appeared on a Stourport pub ahead of this year's Remembrance Sunday.

The Black Star, on Mitton Street, has been decorated with a poppy bow in tribute to fallen soldiers.

The community-spirited pub, which is located near the town's cenotaph, was recently praised for installing a touching mural in honour of the armed forces on its wall.

Pub owner Maria Gooding said the bow was installed to "remember the fallen soldiers that have given us the lives we have today."

Mrs Gooding said: "It goes with the wall - we think it's quite fitting.

"It's one we can use every year. It will be good for Remembrance".

Remembrance Sunday is next month on November 12.

Last week a Rubik's Cube bow decorated the pub as owners Maria and Andy Gooding celebrated their nine-year anniversary at the pub with an 80s-themed party.

The pub has also celebrated the King's Coronation and Christmas with decorative bows, supplied by the Statement Bow Company in Worcester.
