THE Legends of Darts night last Saturday brought in more than £548 for the Back on Track appeal.

The competition pitted the district's top throwers against darts greats Eric Bristow, John Lowe, Keith Deller and Cliff Lazarenko at the Wyre Forest Glades Leisure Centre.

Back on Track had already benefited from the build-up to the event but more appeal cash was generated on the night.

In between the action, a shirt signed by the national Premier League darts players, including Phil "The Power" Taylor and current world champion, John Part, raised £170 in a raffle.

Two lucky audience members also got their moment to shine when two places against the legends were decided by auction which raised £112.50 and pitted one winning bidder against John Lowe and the other against Eric Bristow.

Before the night, the Kidderminster and Stourport darts leagues had already raised more than £250 for the appeal through a series of knockout tournaments to decide the opposition for the legends.

Shuttle/Times & News editor Clive Joyce said: "It was a great night of darts and we are really grateful to those in the audience who so generously dipped into their pockets to help the appeal.

"We must also thank Kidderminster league secretary John Biles who personally sold raffle tickets for us during the interval and added £45 more to the total in less than half an hour!"
