BROCKENCOTE Hotel boss Craig Routledge believes Worcestershire could be well placed to benefit from the continuing staycation boom which is currently sweeping the country.
Mr Routledge who is general manager at the hotel, insists the region has fallen under the radar for far too long but is now encouraged at the number of increased bookings as families look for domestic breaks.
He said: “ It would be great to see more people visiting this part of the country.
“We’ve certainly had a much bigger contingent of domestic hotel visitors over the years who are surprised at what’s on the doorstep."
He points to attractions like Legoland, Cadbury’s World, the Sealife Centre and ThinkTank Science Museum in Birmingham.
But closer to home, Kidderminster has the West Midlands Safari Park and Severn Valley Railway.
Droitwich offers its Spa Lido plus Churchfields Farm, a fifth generation family farm off the beaten track that produces its own ice cream plus Droitwich salt and beef.
Bromsgrove boasts the Blackwell Adventure together with a 20 acre lake at the Aztec Adventure in Upton Warren, while Stourbridge supplies the Boing Zone Trampoline Park together with go-karting at the Full Throttle Raceway.
Mr Routledge added: “They are perfect for family summer staycations and as a region, it’s something we should be shouting about a lot more than we do."
