A KIDDERMINSTER charity which helps people living with disabilities find love and friendship has been awarded £1,000 to fund their new weekly coffee shop.
Our Way Self Advocacy was presented with a cheque from one of Barchester’s Charitable Foundation’s trustees, Michael Butler, in May.
Our Way Self Advocacy runs a range of projects aiming to improve the lives of people living with learning disabilities and autism. Their ‘Stars in the Sky’ project, which focuses on helping people find friendship and romance, has just launched a new coffee shop in Kidderminster for their members.
The coffee shop runs every Thursday and offers a relaxed social setting for individuals to get to know each other.
Catherine Quekett, manager at Our Way, said: “We are very grateful for this £1,000 grant for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, which will go towards funding our new coffee shop project.
“We are really excited about the coffee shop, which is already very popular with our members after just a few initial sessions.”
Mr Butler added: “Our Way Self Advocacy is changing the lives of people in our community and Barchester’s Charitable Foundation are proud to be able to support their latest project.
“This year the foundation is focusing on offering grants that will help tackle isolation and ‘Stars in the Sky’ does just that.”
