VISITORS to this year’s Kidderminster Beer Festival voted ‘Chain Reaction’ – a beer from a new local brewery – as their Beer of the Festival.

Fixed Wheel Brewery owners Sharon Bryant and Scott Povey were invited to Kidderminster’s Weavers Real Ale House, in Comberton Hill, to receive the accolade from Wyre Forest Campaign for Real Ale just before the brewery’s first birthday.

Mr Povey, a record-holding, time trial cyclist, has been home-brewing for ten years. He explained to the CAMRA members as well as developing “core product” beers, he also thoroughly enjoys experimenting with different ingredients and developing new flavours.

Nick Yarwood, chairman of the Wyre Forest CAMRA branch, said: “Fixed Wheel has made a very impressive entry into the brewing industry.

“This being the latest in line of Beer of Festival awards in their first year, proves just what fine beers are being achieved from this newcomer micro-brewery and what an impression they made in their first appearance at Kidderminster Beer Festival.”
