KIDDERMINSTER Library will host a number of courses over the next few weeks for budding sewers, writers and digital learners.

The ‘Hand Sewn Mobiles’ course welcomes beginners to make a child’s mobile or a romantic style mobile using hand sewing techniques. The course will run on Tuesday afternoons for five weeks, starting on Tuesday, April 21, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. The course will cost £41.50 and materials are not included.

Budding writers, who are looking to get their work published, can attend the ‘Writing for Publication’ course, which covers polishing their work, writing cover letters, synopses and query letters, and finding markets. The course is run by published author, Karen King. The course will run for five weeks on Fridays, beginning on Friday, April 17, from 10am to noon. The course will also cost £41.50.

Library customers who are looking to improve their digital skills can attend an event called ‘Spring Online’ taking place on Wednesday, April 22, from 10am to noon. Customers can get help from the library’s digital champion volunteers, including help with the internet, email, or tablet queries, and customers can use the computers in the library or bring in their own laptops to work on.

Holly Ferris, team leader at the library, said: “The event is part of the national Spring Online award-winning campaign that makes it possible for thousands of people, often older people, to try out using computers, tablets and the internet, many for the first time.

“When people discover what using computers and the internet can do for them it opens up a whole new world of social, leisure, learning activities and volunteering opportunities.

“It is also a great opportunity for Kidderminster Library to promote the free IT access and support we offer to customers.”
