STAFF at a Stourport school were bedazzled by youngsters dressed in brightly coloured clothes to highlight climate change.

The Burlish Park Primary School pupils were raising awareness of Earth Hour, an annual event promoted by the charity World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

Members of the school’s eco council led a morning assemblyand explained the importance of climate change and saving energy.

People across the world were asked to switch off their lights for an hour for the Earth Hour campaign.

As well as turning off lights and electric appliances for an hour at school, pupils wrote letters and designed posters and headbands promoting the event to parents and carers.

Lynda Williams, eco schools co-ordinator, said: ”Our children really enjoyed participating in the activities as well as learning about the impact individuals can have on the environment.”
