Mark Steel dropped into Bewdley, the latest venue on his ‘Mark Steel’s in Town’ tour.

After wandering round town gathering ideas and having already consulted the ‘Twitterati’, he used the resulting material to good effect in his stand up show in front of an enthusiastic audience at Bewdley Festival.

Particular local targets receiving his attention were Teddy Grays, Safari Park Monkeys and the Duck Race.

Mark Steel is an accomplished performer, able to use various accents to good effect.

His observations of the idiosyncrasies of various Towns up and down the land, the nothingness of his hometown Swanley were most amusing as were his problems with coming to terms with being fifty and all that it entailed.

He railed against call centres, the centralisation of everything, every town featuring the same shops and bemoaned the fact that Tesco stores were multiplying like bindweed!

A most entertaining evening, with some wittily delivered funny gags and sharp observations, was well received by the Festival audience.

It would be interesting to find out which reminiscences of Bewdley he includes at his next gig.
